A small shop, run by one person

We started BarkAndMeow in 2026 with a deliberately small range of collars, bowls, toys and grooming essentials — the everyday things dogs and cats actually get through, sourced in small batches and checked by hand before anything is listed.

Being this small has obvious disadvantages. We don't have a warehouse in every city, our range is a fraction of what a marketplace carries, and we can't promise next-day delivery to Kochi. What we can do is know every item on the shelf, answer your message ourselves, and tell you the truth about whether something suits your pet.

What we sell — and what we don't

Accessories, bowls and feeders, toys, and grooming tools. That's the whole list.

We don't sell pet food, treats or medicines. Food carries storage and expiry obligations we're not set up for yet, and medicines need a licence we don't hold. Plenty of shops do those well; we'd rather point you to them than do it badly. We also don't offer vet consultations, grooming bookings, insurance or financing — those need licensed partners, and we don't have them.

Four things we won't do

Small Indian e-commerce has some bad habits. These are the ones we've decided against, in writing, so you can hold us to them.

• No invented reviews. When you see a review on this site, a real customer wrote it. Until someone has bought something, there will be no reviews here at all — which is why you can't see any yet.
• No fake MRPs. A struck-through price is the genuine maximum retail price. We won't inflate one to manufacture a discount.
• No borrowed product photos. Every image of something you can buy is one we took of the actual item we'll send you — never a supplier's catalogue shot. The pictures of dogs and cats around this site are licensed stock photographs, because they are not our pets and we won't pretend otherwise.
• No invented numbers. No customer counts, no "10,000 happy pets", no donation totals we haven't donated. When there are numbers worth reporting, they'll be real ones.

The shelter pledge

Five percent of every sale goes to local animal shelters and street-feeding programmes. As of today that figure is zero, because we haven't sold anything yet. When it isn't zero, the amount and the recipient will be published here.

How the business is set up

BarkAndMeow trades as a sole proprietorship — not a private limited company. It isn't GST-registered, because turnover is below the threshold at which registration is required. Both of those will change if the shop grows, and this page will change with them.
